mmm yes but i ask about a roof because this is a problem all the time i've to make it in 3D... I'm using some other plugins to do the job, but all have a problem with holes in the structure, for the border, the heaviest size of the file after editing it, uvw problem and many more problems... So you can solve some of the problem with that, but i just want to see (or test?) exactly the application on some curved roof, cut in diagonales or with multiple angle... to see if vraypattern could help me
Yes your rail scene is incredible but don't answer me about roof...
Thanks!

Send sample of your roof - we can do the test.

raistlin...Thanks for your support...
About roof... just if I had better tiles! here I propagated over a cylindrical shape, with square holes in it
Also, you could follow few videos I made, on how I'm actually using VrayPattern

Thnaks Djavaldi, and sorry for the roof... I'm working all the time for now... It seems to be great as i look, but i think (becaus i can't try for now...) it should be great for the environment and not the subject it self... The pattern used by vraypattern can't create any "cap hole" from him... So each shape will be cut on the edge...
Here two roof i'm working on, all simply are they like, they have a lot of bad issue with a roof designer like Batzal, Also, if Vrayscatter could work on it... Batzal can't make the geometry exactly from this shape, it create a roof "approximatly" from this surface... And i want the roof EXACTLY fit to the shape without problem...
here is the two roof (very simple) in a max file (2011 X64) without any textures

Thanks !!

Hi raistlin,
I work on 3ds max 2009 so I couldn't get info
from your file. All I can say is, if the geometry
you're willing to propagate on is with holes, then
your propagated geometrys are going to be cut, conformed
to the hole area an their shape.

I've always see your great videos to demonstrate how vraypattern wors, it's great but as all the others examples that don't answer my question...
So here is a picture from a roof i've done
And that
I Just want to know if i can do this sort of roof with vraypattern, with overlapped shingles like that, random material and other... if not... "tant pis"

Tres bien...Nice Work!
First of all lets talk about the weak part in the actual VrayPattern... witch in my opinion, is the fact, that randomized texturing is almost impossible.
With your roof case, things are even worse!
I made a pattern for you, more or less as what you should make, in order to end up with a similar roof.
In fact, for making your pattern, you have to cut your tiles... this
makes the randomizing texture impossible...
for randomizing position and orientation, you have also no choice
with VP.
In many cases, using procedural textures in "world" mode can bring solutions, but not in this case.
You should also know that VrayPattern has no textures developed for, such as VrayScatter or MultiScatter textures.
Honestly, I would not recommend VP for doing such roof, because of the
huge importance of randomizing, required in texturing, positioning and orientations with your tiles.
