Unstable when scene xrefing

I just purchased Multiscatter. I've found that it will constantly crash max if it is scene xrefed into another file. If I render to destination scene and then attempted to do anything else (save, pan viewport, etc) instant crash. Its not running out of memory at least as far as I can see in task manager. This is kind of a problem because I always do my vegetation in a seperate file and xref it in. Thus far I haven't experienced any issues if the MS is in the file being rendered.
max 2010 design, vray 1.5r5.
