I get the same problem. i didn't realise it might be linked to multiscatter., but max crashes like 20 times/day for me. everytime i click on that menu button.

I would also like to add that a feature that was terribly lacking for me on a project recently was the ability to edit multiscatter object. ie to be able to remove one or 2 trees that were in the way for a specific view. i was quite stuck as I had no way ...
